The Internet is fast becoming the preferred method of communication for a growing segment of the population. Real estate is a business of people, a business of networks and networking. Contact with people creates opportunity and the Internet allows users to reach more people with more information, more cost-effectively than ever before. Real estate information out of context is worthless, but real estate information in the context of the life of buyers and sellers is invaluable. The skills required of real estate professionals will continue to change as technology changes the needs and expectations of the “connected consumer.” Even so, one thing is certain—the ability to use the Internet for communication and marketing will be essential for anyone expecting a successful career in real estate.
